Optimized hardware and software solutions to offer carrier-class streaming capabilities for service providers and enterprises worldwide

LOS GATOS, Calif. (June 18, 2001) – Streaming21, Inc. (S21) today announced that its scalable broadband streaming solutions featuring S21’s Media Server software will be offered on high-performance servers from Hewlett-Packard Company. Integrating S21’s carrier-class streaming platform with HP servers gives telecom and broadband service providers the ability to deliver CD-quality audio and DVD-quality video on a large scale, along with the high levels of quality, reliability and manageability customers demand.

According to the agreement, the newly integrated broadband streaming solutions will be marketed and sold worldwide by HP directly to customers through its consulting division and systems integrator channel.

“Streaming21’s scalable technology platform enables HP resellers to target major and emerging telecom and broadband service providers. Together with HP’s components for an ‘Always-On Infrastructure,’ we are delivering broadcast-quality streaming to a wide variety of clients in a distributed environment,” says Dr. Joe Lin, President of Streaming21.

Advanced content and system management tools are built in for ease of use and maximum administrator control. In addition, standardized interfaces offer easy integration into existing network environments. S21’s Media Server for Windows 2000 operating systems will be sold with HP’s line of high-performance HP Netserver LP 2000r and LT 6000r systems.

Both companies are conducting optimization and characterization efforts with appropriate HP and HP-supported products. Three-way integration with mutual partners such as the Fantastic Corporation (www.fantastic.com) has already been completed. The existing distribution channel of resellers and system integrators will play a key role in bringing this solution to market. Through this channel strategy, customers will have a single point of contact to design, deploy, and manage a complete broadband streaming service.
